Once Upon a Galaxy – The making of The Empire Strikes Back
ONCE UPON A GALAXY: A JOURNAL OF THE MAKING OF THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK by Alan Arnold
This book is fairly rare, and long out of print. You can still pick up copies for about $30 from ebay or abe books, which is where I got my copy from. Is it worth it? Hmmm let me think about that. Yes I did enjoy reading this, and yes it does give you some good information about the making of Empire. But the thing is, Arnold comes across as an innocent bystander to all this, and he doesn’t seem to understand any of it half the time. He doesn’t share the passion that is so evident in Rinzler’s writing. If you are looking for an insight into the making of this movie, I would definitely choose the J.W Rinzler book, The Making of The Empire Strikes Back.
Unfortunately, my copy (which was a really good copy!) had a bizarre accident with a crystal lamp, and is now infused with weird crystal growths. I’m not even kidding. Still deciding whether I want to replace it or not.
